Sandi, my prayers are with you and Mike for a good result.  If it's positive for cancer, find out what his options are.

Hugs,

Connie

We should find out next couple days... but then probably look at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN for treatment... cuz they don't do any fancy stuff up here .... in the outback of MN...
they said the "spot" was 5.5 cm in September.... so I'm guessing it might be bigger ... at the time we went in for the biopsy....
I've read up on the treatments and all that from the other posts... so we'll see what we're dealing with.. and tie a knot and hang on
he seems pretty good.. has an appetite... and is very alert... one day at at time I guess

If it IS cancer, at 5.5 cm (or slightly larger), he might still qualify for radiofrequency ablation or surgery.  If not, ask about TheraSphere.

Hugs and prayers,

Connie

Cindi, I was at Mayo when I had chemoembolization and then TheraSphere several months later.  It takes time for the tumor to shrink (mine was 12 cm x 11.5 cm), so it was several more months before I had surgery to remove the right lobe.  TheraSphere was a study drug at the time, at least here at Mayo Jax, but Mayo Rochester had been using it previously.  I had absolutely no side effects from it--felt wiped out after the chemoembolization.

Hugs,

Connie

cool.... on other site said some people died after taking Therasphere.. may have been other reasons... and tomorrow if they don't call to review results I'm gonna rattle their cages to get moving on this...
Mike pretty tired today... not alert in morning but then pm was... interacting well and with the dogs... thank God for the therapy dog I got him a few months back.. helps keep him company when I have to work...

Their deaths were probably due to other causes.  TheraSphere is a microscopic radioactive substance that is injected directly into the tumor via a catheter.  You can Google it and get some information about it online.

Thanks so much... well, called the clinic... don't have a clue what to make of what they said... the gal that helps me out got a nurse on the line... we set an appointment for Dec 16th... to review biopsy results.. they are sending it out for 2nd opinion... now what would make them do that??? I mean if it was cancer they'd just flat out say it... can't figure this one out and so now we wait another week... but Mike is pretty stable right now... some issues but not too bad...

They may not have had a clear diagnosis or were uncertain of it.  It's good that rather than guessing they are getting a 2nd opinion.  Sorry you have to wait some more, but you should get a positive answer then.

Hugs,

Connie
