We found out she had a kidney infection last week, which set her back a bit. She rested a lot and is feeling GREAT today she says. She is going back to the doctor on Friday for a follow-up. I'm sure this will be day by day. So for now, I am trying to come up with stuff she can eat. For Christmas Eve, my husband and I have his entire family over for finger foods. I am having a vegetable tray and a fruit tray that she is able to eat, but I'm trying to come up with a couple of hot things for her to eat. I figured you guys would know best about the dietary restrictions. Low sodium, not much protein, of course. I certainly don't want to make her sicker! But I really don't want to just have cold veggies and fruit for her to eat while the rest of us are having hot food. She doesn't really mind, she's not much of an eater, but I still want to provide for her. Does anyone have any good appetizer recipes for a cirrhosis patient?

I really appreciate it and I hope no one minds me asking such a light question on here. I am just trying to make the good days better.

Since it's just an appetizer, you could make (or buy) some cold cooked shrimp and just serve fresh lemon wedges with it.  Remember that lemon and lime can be used in place of salt.

I'm glad your MIL is feeling better.

Hugs,

Connie
