Welcome to the Hepatitis Forum, tinfly.  Do you mean treatment for hep C or liver disease of some kind?  As far as I know, there is nothing in the USA currently that doesn't involve Interferon.  I don't know what you might find other countries doing.  In the US, most insurances will pay for the combo treatment for hepatitis C.  The only other thing I would feel comfortable recommending is milk thistle.  Have you tried that?

Hugs,

Connie

There are various grades and strengths.  When I took it, I got it from a health food store.  You might want to consult with someone at one of those.  The salespeople are usually very knowledgeable.  While it may cost a bit more, you'll likely get a better quality.  I've also read that alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is good for the liver.  Again, I recommend getting it at a health food store and discussing recommended dosage with a salesperson.

In addition, in case you aren't aware, diet is very important.  Omit red meat and load up on fresh fruits and vegetables.  Limit salt and sugar.  Drink spring water and green tea.  Get plenty of sleep and rest.  NO alcohol or drugs that aren't prescribed, of course.  Diet and lifestyle changes can make a huge difference in the way you feel.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hep C research money went to AIDS instead.  Hep C research is definitely underfunded compared to other diseases, despite the hundreds of thousands of people in this country with chronic active hep C.

Hugs,

Connie

Tinfly, we appreciate your participation in this forum, but I'd like to ask you to please NOT post in all caps.  It is considered screaming in polite Internet society.  wink

Thanks and hugs,
