After a long trip from Minneapolis... and burying Mike's brother... I fell  asleep in the other room in our small place... I woke to loud music.... the sound of uncontrollable sobbing... I ran into the other room... there he stood... on the edge of a chair... finely balanced.... a gallon of vodka on the floor.... noose around his neck... crying to the Lord... why? why? did you take Steve.... he didn't even notice me...

At first, I was frightened... like no other time in my life... then prayer came to me... faith unfolded before me... and through the next hours... with words of faith.... Mike listened and climbed down off that chair to face his own mortality ... Hep C... Cirhosis... etc.... though not sober for a long time... he stepped down... and we walked together.. as God provided the steps... gradually, slowly, incremently away from that moment to regain his sobriety... through prayers and faith... he came back... to that path... from the edge of that chair so long ao... and now he walks together with me... with faith guiding us... where we do not know... but always with faith and  certainly with hope... we are blessed for the partner each one has and thankful for our time on this path together... Sandi, with every single thing that life throws at Mike that he is able to get through without drinking, he will grow stronger and more able to resist the next temptation.  We don't have to react emotionally.  We can use faith and our God-given minds to get through anything.
