i am sitting here tired after a night of my partner sundowning again. I watch this man who was strong and brave cry because this is such a terrible life he has now and i wonder how long he has left. Almost ten months ago they gave him one month and he has lived longer than anyone could have hoped.Recently his specialist told us that he was improving and two days later his gp told him to prepare and asked him if he believes in the afterlife. It is all crazy making and how do i find out what the true reality is. I gather before he was with me he had been a very heavy drinker and had stopped just before he met me,and then he was in a tragic boat accident that killed one person and crushed him physically and mentally. He had bruising over 85 % of his body and by the time he went to the dr he had gone too far.then he got h1n1 and it actually improved his results i read other peoples posts and it helps me because i see i am not the only tired caregiver out there thankyou

Hi, Care m.  I know there are a lot of caregivers here who can relate to what you're going through.  If you have read many of the posts, you know that "how much longer?" is a question that is frequently asked, but also one that is almost impossible to answer.  Liver disease is a very individual disease and different people have different reactions.  Some linger on for months and even years, while others will downslide rapidly.  If you will look in the Hepatitis Resources folder at the top of the forum page, that question is addressed in there.  There is also information about the various stages of ESLD.  Perhaps that will benefit you a little.

Remember to take time for yourself.  You need to get a break now and then in order to regroup and energize yourself.

Hugs,
Connie

Hi CareM,

Sounds like you are very tired. Is there someone who can help you, even if its just for 2 couple of hours.

Sometimes people just need alittle break sometimes. Take care of yourself too, you cannot help him if you get down too.

Take a small notebook with you when ya'll see doctor and try to write down what they say. This site has alot of references to go to.

Keep your chin up, I will keep you in my prayers.
I vent alot on here and Connie helps alot. Stay strong and believe me sometimes you don't feel very strong.
