Hello all...

A friend suggested "NAC", which is a powerful anti-oxidant, as a supplement for Frank to help keep his liver from any further damage.

I know it's good for people with healthy livers to take, but I wonder if it is okay for someone with cirrhosis.

Of course I've emailed his doctor, but I always like to check here also.

Prayers continue to ascend for all here.

Blessings,

Rob

Rob, I'd actually never heard of this.  Checked on Hepatitis Central and found that it is being used by hepatitis patients, but I'm not sure about those with cirrhosis.  I'd abide by Frank's doctor's recommendation.  I had asked my hepatologist about ALA (alpha-lipoic acid) and she said that would be okay for me--and I have both hep C and cirrhosis and am a liver cancer survivor.  However, I'm not yet taking it.

Hugs,
Connie

Thanks Connie,

I'll be certain to post the answer that Frank's doctor comes back with.

On another note, do we have an update on how Rick made out with his appointments?

Blessings,

Rob

Rob, he did a thread called Update.  He found out he doesn't have hep C after all.  That was a misdiagnosis.  He does have cirrhosis, but may never need a transplant.  Good news!

Hugs,

Connie

Great news Connie!

Didn't he have a TIPs though? I thought that with a TIPs you would have to eventually transplant.

He does have a TIPS.  I don't know if that means he must have a transplant eventually or not.  They ARE keeping him on the list.

Hugs,

Connie
