Hi Everyone,

I have not been on here in a while.  It is crazy how fast time goes by.  Over the past month I have gotten most of my moms affairs in order and helped my grandparents to know what to expect in the next month or so.  My mom is not able to take care of herself anymore and I was able to get hospice in her home.  After a month of that Hospice spoke to me about finding and assisted living program to help her with daily tasks.  I would like her to stay with me, and my grandma wants her to stay there, but my mom said no.  She said she would feel better if she were able to have some what of her own life and time an she felt she could better attain that in a home.  It took quite a bit of looking and co-ordinating but I found a place that only has a handful of resedence and her room is spacious and so is the house.  She has her own bathroom, a hospital bed and it is almost like a little suite.  The wait on her a lot and everyone there seems to love her.  She is the youngest person there.  Her boyfriend come and gets her to stay with him on the weekends and days that he is not working.  I get to see her more often now because she can not hide in her house.  She is also not having to take care of her boyfriends mom.  The hospice nurse loves her new home and is so greatful to have a more secure place for my mom.  We are finding that her condition is progressing at a fairly normal rate and she forgot, not who I was but, what my role in her life was.  She introduced me to the maitenance guy using my name, but told him I was her mom.  It was kind of funny the mans face was classic.  But you can tell he sees that a lot, he just kind of went with it.  I feel like I am handling things well, but I am constantly covered in hives.  Weird!  I can not tell u all how greatful I am for all the guidence you have given.  I still pop in and read.  You give such great advice I don't know what to add and you all definitly know more than I do.  If anyone ever needs anything let me know.  If there is anyone you guys know I can help let me know.  I will keep watching to see if there is anything to add.  Bless all of you!  You are wonderful and loved! DD, I'm so glad you were able to get your mom situated in a good place.  I'm curious, though:  Aren't assisted living places quite expensive?  Someone I know was interested in one, so I called one at random and it is $3,000/mo., quite beyond her means, even if Medicaid paid part of it.

I hope things continue to go smoothly for all concerned.

Hugs,

Connie
