I have a question about prescription Insurance as in Medicare D.  My husband has Anthem blue cross or should I say had because they cancelled and the check already has gone through our checking account.  It's due by the 30th and they cancelled on the 30th.  I will be calling them on Monday to figure out what is going on.  I just don't feel comfortable with this at all.  I also use Anthem for suppliment to his medicare and haven't had a problem except for the premiums going up.  I was just wondering should I be looking into other insurance or is there a better way of handling the insurance for him?  My work insurance doesn't cover him.  Any companies others of you have used that you prefer?

Thank you so much for you advice,

DD, why did they cancel?  I wouldn't do anything until you talk to them and find out what is going on.  You could have the premiums taken directly out of his SS check instead of paying them every month yourself.  That way, there wouldn't be a late-payment problem and much less hassle.  As to the companies, they vary by state.  I'm in FL and have Health Net for Rxs.  He should have gotten a book at the beginning of the year (or end of last year) called Medicare and You for 2010.  It lists all the Part B supplementary and prescription drug insurance companies available to him.

Hugs,

Connie

Hi Connie,

The payment was set up to be taken out of his SS check and they never were and then when I called they wouldn't talk to me, then when they did talk to my husband they said it would be taken care of. Any way they sent a final bill that it must be paid by 30th and it was and now they canceled it. We didn't get a cancelation notice. The payment might of crossed paths I don't know for sure but I will call on monday because it definitely doesn't make since. I also have a disabled daughter who is blind and multi handicapped since birth and sometimes you get one thing straightened out and guess what something else comes up. I just got frustrated because I found out while getting a prescription and the insurance company is closed today so I have to wait till monday to get it taken care of. It will all work out I'm sure and I will make sure they take it out of his check or out of our account. I ended up calling Medicare and they said that if they don't take care of it to contact them and they will deal with them...sounds good to me. I have never had a problem with any insurance company before so this is all new to me. We did get the 2010 medicare book. It can be overwhelming on which plan is best.

Thanks,
DDMom

It's frustrating, for sure.  If there's ever a drug that insurance will not pay for, try this:

Good luck on Mon. and let us know what you find out.
