Once you have the biopsy, you will have a better idea of what shape your liver is in--whether you have cirrhosis, etc. Then treatment options can be discussed. I don't know if you've seen my posts about the new treatment that adds Telaprevir to the mix, which will become available early next year. That will be another thing to consider. It's great that you are foresighted enough to include your partner in whatever the future holds, in terms of making sure he has support.
While 4 alcoholic drinks a year aren't much at all for a normal liver, remember that yours is damaged and you are further damaging it with any alcohol intake whatsoever. You need to make sure you are as healthy as you can be, given the hep C diagnosis.
