I know its been a while and I do not know if this information is still useful, but I hope it is.  I helped my mom  in assisted living.  It was a lot of research in my area.  I got with hospice who found places that will take people how have medicade only and SSI income.  She does not have any other income.  The house I chose takes all of her SSI and leaves her $90.00 a month for incidentals.  If you have other income besides SSI they will evaluate that as well.  If we took her there and she had other income and no SSI this house would be in the $4000 range.  There are houses that will do it.  Sometimes there is some waiting to get in but just keep trying.  The updat on my mom is that we almost lost her a couple of times since April but she is hanging in there and being strong, she is bridged in between Hospice and Home health care.  Good luck to everyone!

DD, thanks for the update on your mom and the info. I am glad you were able to get care for her.

My pleasure!  By any chance do you know anything about pinkish orange fluid in the ascites?
