Hi Pink Grandma, We are still trying to get my husband listed. They want him to lose weight. He also has very bad back problems that he is taking narcotics for. He has to be totally off of those before he can be listed. The surgeons are worried that the shape his back is in he may never be able to not take them. I am hoping that they are wrong. Due to the condition of his liver, back surgery is out of the question. His condition has remained pretty much the same, except the encephalopathy has been a little worse. I just thank God that there have been no visits to the emergency room.

Congratulations on the new grandbaby. My two have been keeping me really busy. I have another one due in April.

Although I haven't been here in a while you all have all been in my thoughts and prayers. I will try very hard to stop by every now and then.

Hang in there Butterfly, My husband had to lose 100lbs before they would list him. He lost it. So it can be done. Is your husband on Xifaxin? Along with the lactulose that should help keep his encephalopathy under control.

Grandkids, help keep us young. I have to always laugh when I am around my granddaughters.
They keep me in stitches.

How's butterflyfour? Hope she's doing well. Tell her I said hi.

Take care........thoughts and prayers..........

Well, It looks like I spoke too soon. We ended up in the emergency room Sunday afternoon with high ammonia levels. He just got released today. We were told to just keep doing what we have been doing, which is lactulose every 6 hours and to adjust according to his symptoms. I thought that I had figured out how to handle the ammonia levels but it turns out the levels can go up quickly. I gave him extra lactulose all day Sunday until 3:00 when he was too out of it to even swallow. At the hospital he was given an enema, a suppository and more lactulose and still didn't start having bowel movements until very early Monday morning. He is much better today, but still not completely himself. I am so glad to be home. I guess I just need to keep a better watch over his bowel movements.

Pink Grandma, Sorry I haven't gotten back with you. Butterflyfour is doing well. Sunday was quite a scare for my whole family because it was the worst we have ever seen him but all the kids have been pretty good through the ordeal.

Butterfly, so sorry to hear that your hubby had such a bad spell.  I hope he stabilizes and can get listed for a liver.

Big hugs,

Connie

Thanks Connie, I'm hoping this helps him to realize how important it is that he lose weight.

Butterfly, you never have to apologize. I know only too well the journey of liver disease. Just when you can take a breath it gets knocked out of you.
So glad that he is doing better. Hopefully you can recharge your batteries a little with him home.

Glad to hear butterfly4 is doing well.
