Hopeful, welcome to the forum.  That's neat that your doctor gave you the name of this forum.  We do have a wonderful group here that is very supportive.  When were you diagnosed with hep C and have you had any treatment yet?

No one is on here all the time, but I check in frequently throughout the day and evening.

Hugs,

Connie

Dr Bacon of St Louis University is conducting a study on a new hep C treatment that is supposed to have a 75% success rate. The GI at the hospital told us about it when my husband was there yesterday. He didn't know alot about it but maybe a hepatologist in your area has knowledge of the study. I think I even read a post on this site talking about it. My husband was involved in one of Dr Bacon's studies in the mid 90's and they were being conducted in several hospitals throughout the US.

Good luck hopefultoheal.

Yes, there is a new combo of three drugs in trial at the moment and expected to be approved by the FDA and available early next year.  The one my hepatologist mentioned was by Vertex and adds Telaprevir.  So I am going to give it a try when it becomes available.  Hopeful, with your chronic pancreatitis, I'm not sure if you would be able to take hep C treatment of any kind.  What does your doctor say about that?

Hugs,

Connie
