Hey Flopsie!

Camama, nothing has been changed. He slept lying down on couch. He did use a different sheet though.

I went to store today and got a new detergent and fabric softener, so we will see.

I try to use the detergents that have no perfumes, no dyes, etc. My fiance is very sensitive to chemicals, so no chlorine bleach on his whites, either.

The itching could be from the fluid in his legs. It's really common in liver disease and doctors aren't positive what causes it. With Mark, I think it was when his bilirubin was higher.

I used to rub lotion into his legs, when it got really bad. Again, no perfumes, no dyes. Usually whatever the hospital had given us worked pretty well. It helped his leg pain, too.

Mark never itched until he was in bed, off of his legs. It's a really odd thing.

My hubby has hep c /cirrhosis of the liver too. He seem to have itching all over and it drives him nuts. He just started back on treatment this is the third or forth time i,m loosing count. He is on ribavirin ,lexapro,and pegasys he seem to be doing very well so far on the treatment so pray things continue to go well. I'll be praying for you all i know how hard this can be may God be with you all. Karen

Karen, I will keep you and hubby in my prayers for sure. I know the Pagasys and Ribavirin can take it's toll vey quickly.

I talked to Mark about the itching and he said that it was worst when he first got up in the morning or had just laid down at night, because the fluid in his body was shifting with the change in position.

How goes the itching?

Mark's got some water retention again, so we're back to ~scratch~ ~scratch~ ~scratch~.

Fiance had HCV, cirrhosis, ESLD, ascites, and portal hypertension. Was transplanted June 2004.  Now, on interferon and ribavirin. Hepatitis C is back.

Unfortunately we are not doing so well. Considering the Interferon, he is just getting weaker and weaker.Not a good sign I know.

The only problen (aside from all the side effects) we have WHI for  RX and they are going to require we pay up front and they will reimburse. We have to do that with his PAP+, but it is not as expensive..only $75.00 per RX, pharmacy says Interferon could be well over $1,000.00. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do, you know? I don't understand why they call it special formula, when it is two separate meds, the Ribavirin and the Interferon.

Well. we will see how it goes,

Sorry to hear about the side effects. Especially sorry to hear about the insurance issues.  It's just not fair.

Hubby wouldn't happen to be a Veteran, would he?  Mark reminded me that, if he is, you should be able to get his meds at the VA.

Just a thought.

hi flopsie. have you or your husband talked to your dr. about medication for liver itch? whenI lay down seems to be when my liver itch gets worse too but the meds help a lot. the itch could be caused by the bile salts under the skin. hope he gets relief soon. God bless . lerie
