Hi friends, Been visiting the IBS part of hw for those problems and saw the Hep thread and felt like popping in to say Hello. BTW, this place is awesome!!!
I have had Hep C since age 17 according to my doc. 42 now... makes it my 25th wedding anniversary to this fine disease.
In twenty five years my levels have gone from 550,000 to 1,200,000, a little more than double. Back when I was diagnosed, the life span was twenty years to liver cancer. I see now they are saying 30 years.
I last saw my doc in June, and he did'nt have any concerns with me pertaining to the Hep C. He tried me on the interferon back in 1993 and I could not tolerate it.
I owe my relatively low levels to smart living, and GOD... stopped drinking, and Only sleep 6 hours per night, which is key to helping the liver when you have Hep C. Doc said this was #1 most important change.
My doc has tried to get me to do the pegasus treatment, but I will not because I don't think I can tolerate it. I read somewhere that there is a certain blood type that does not respond well to treatments, sorry but don't remember the exact type. Anyway, I'm that type.
I also know that trying and not completing these treatments makes your Hep C alot worse. Did'nt know if you guys were aware of this fact. My levels went from 550,000 to 750,000 in less than 6 months during my interferon trial back min 1993, and I only took 2 shots.
Anyway, wanted to say Hello and tell a little about myself. Sorry this is sooo long.
