A Friend acquired HBV last year from a Man who was a previous Heroine junkie(she had no knowledge)..she is in the Hospital with an Infection in her Colon(Diverticulitis)..the CT scan showed her Liver is irritated..the tests and scans do not show any prescence of active HBV even though we know her Liver is damaged..her Bilirubin and Liver Enzymes were/are normal since seeing her Doctor and being in Hospital. We are wondering if it has completely went away and would like to know if it will be passed onto her Fiance sexually if he doesn't take the Hepatitis Vaccines.

If she cleared the hep B and has the antibody, she should not be able to pass it on or to get it again herself. However, to be absolutely clear on her status, she should contact her doctor.

Hep93 and Lerie she has been in Hospital 3 times since she acquired HBV.She has had several labs done. The Enzymes were either elevated or normal. She is in Hospital right now with Diverticulitis and an irritated Liver.Since seeing her Doctor and being in Hospital her Blood work,Ultrasound and CT Scan didn't show an active case of HBV even though her Liver is irritated and her Urine is still Coffee/Tea colored(which has been a come and go thing)but that may be a Sepsis as her body is so infected and has been for long time. She has experienced pain, stomach swelling, swelling in her feet, hands, legs and face, been Nauseated, had Diarrhea/Constipation,ran Fever and chilled a very long time and nothing was done about it until this last Monday..she was experiencing those symptoms because of her Colon.

Hi Sydnee,What kind of meds is this girl on? Does she drink or to drugs? There are many reasons why the liver can be irratated. Can you tell us anything more about your freind? The dark urine like coffee, could be comming from the liver or the kidneys so more info could be helpful to give you any ideas. I'm a cirrhosis patient ( prescription Drugs) . I'm not a Dr. but might be able to give you tips to discuss with Dr. with some history. I have had Divertic since I was 22 because of not enough fibre in my diet. i do not ever recall my urine being as you describe from the times of flare up.How frequently has she been hospitalized with it? Take care later....

Ps Swelling better known as edema is not generally a symptom of bowel. It is typically a symptom of heart or liver or high sodium intake.
