Hi everyone,

Gene saw his GI specialist for his quarterly visit and lab work. The doctor was very impressed with how Gene looks and is doing and can't explain why his cancer hasn't spread beyond stating it may not like the liver toxins in his system.

The results of his lab tests were faxed to us this morning. I'm really impressed that both AST and ALT levels were well in the normal range as was the albumin level. Biliruben and ammonia levels were slightly elevated and hemoglobin and PT were almost normal. And high Iron levels have come down quite a bit since last measured.

Gene is starting back on low levels of Inderol as his BP is slowly going up and up. When he first was on Inderol, he almost died when his BP went dangerously low and didn't want to come up enough even when the medication was stopped. But we will take baby steps and make sure he doesn't have problems. I'm always a little concerned that he wasn't being treated for varicies and hepatic portal hypertension. I'll let you know how things go with the Inderol. Has anyone else had problems with this medication. Well, if it doesn't work out for Gene I can try it for my anxiety and high blood pressure.

My best to all our friends on the forum. Gene follows everyone's posts but hasn't joined in yet. I've asked him to help me trouble shout and enable our pop up on the browser, etc. so I can join in the chat room. He's the computer genius in our family. Taught himself everything from books.

Love,
Barb

Hi Barb the pop up blocker has to be off. Are you clicking on forum & chat or just the little bar below that says chat? you need to click on the little box below that says chat then click on hepatitis when the little box pops up then sign into it. That's good news about Gene, That means at the moment he is stable where the liver doesn't seem to be doing anything one way or the other at the moment. I stayed like that for 6 years before nose diving again & I truly hope Gene stays like stable too. sounds like the cancer is staying in remission too! This is great news Barb, thanks for sharing it with us. I don't know anything about that drug he is on. I take nadolol 80 mg. for my portal hypertension & verices. Tell Gene I said hi. My thoughts & prayers are with you & Gene. Take care. later....

Hey Valerie,

I hope you are having a good day. I followed your clear instructions and got the pop up window to get into the chat room. Of course, there wasn't anyone in the hepatitis room as it's not the right day or time. I'll see you on Sunday hopefully.

Stable is wonderful. I know that's the best we can hope for with Gene's liver and cancer.

Hugs and prayers,

Barb

Hi Barb and Gene, That is wonderful news! My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope that you both can enjoy the day. Hugs for you both. Maybe if Gene isn't able to use the computer yet, he could dictate to you and you could type out a message for him. It would good to hear from Gene too.
                 Blessings and hugs, love, Cynthia

Hi Barb,

It is in deed good news. The word stable is wonderful!!!

I have some good news also! Mark has been invited to be evaluated at UAMS, which is only 40 miles from us on Thursday. We were told in December they weren't taking any Liver patient at the time and it turns out there was mis-comunication. They have only 100 people on the list at this time. So it would mean less waiting time. Being on 2 list won't hurt also.

HUGS!!

Teresa

Hi Theresa,

Hugs,

Hi Val and Barb,

I do have some more good news. Last week Mark and I were so broke, I got very depressed and was thinking I was so desperate I was going to sell one of Marks guns so we would have enough money to make another trip to Little Rock. Well I Prayed and Prayed and God did answer my prayers. Mark was approved for SSI and Medicaid, then then next day he got a check from SSI. It just came in an nick of time. I'm so glad I can share this good news with everyone. We will head out tomorrow for Little Rock for more test! Thank-You both for your wonderful support!!!

Love, Hugs, and Prayers,

Teresa tongue
