Hi. I've recently been diagnosed with HCV and have had a difficult time finding answers to some of my questions and concerns. I am in fight-training and am concerned that it may be possible to spread my virus while working out. My Dr. and specialist have both ok'ed the continued training as long as I am careful about bleeding, but I just want to be sure. So if there is anyone out there who may have more answers and wouldn't mind giving me a quick reply, I'd appreciate it.

Defeat, hello and welcome to the forum. We are a very caring and supportive group. We have a lot of information on Hepatitis in the Hepatitis Rescources Center on this forum. Hepatitis C is spread blood to blood. Hope that helps.

Hi, Defeated. I was diagnosed with hep C in '93. It is a blood borne disease; not spread by sweating. Do you know if your HCV is chronic active? If so, you should be getting treatment for it. I only had brief treatment at the beginning of diagnosis, and didn't follow up with the newer combo treatment, due to osteonecrosis requiring bilateral hip replacement and a revision. Now I have liver cancer, directly attributed to hep C. Untreated hep C also causes cirrhosis, for which there is no cure.
