Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body used up ,totally worn out and screaming"WOOOOHOO WHAT A RIDE!!!"

hi jeff,
I have had sucess with chinese medicine. I have autoimmune hepatitis and since visiting my chinese doctor (about 4 months now) my blood results have improved considerably, whilst my medications have been decreased. I have also been having acupuncture. Just last week I had some extra needles for mild depression and I have felt great since last Wednesday. No tears or mood swings.
I can't guarantee it will work for everyone and I think you have to have faith in the doctor you see. My chinese doctor also has a Western medical degree.

My suggestion is "Give it a go" It can;t hurt you.
Marg

Hi Jeff,
Like trish said I do not have a viral hepatitis. Mine was caused through my body rejecting my liver. The symptoms do not become obvious until quite a lot of damage is done to the liver, in my case cirrhosis. My liver specialist says I may have had AIH for up to 20 years, before I became aware I was unwell. By the time I was diagnosed, (it took about 5 - 6 weeks) I was in liver failure.

Fortunately there are medications that keep AIH under control, although not cured. Prednisone is not a good medication long term. but it is the only one available at the moment. I am really hoping the herbs and acupuncture will continue to make a difference, and one day I will be off the steroids, and their not so good side effects.

Jeff, I hope and pray you are given good advice and are able to make the right choice. Your wife and girls need you, as you say. And I can understand you wanting to fish in heaven in the long and distant future.

A positive attitude, healthy living and the correct medical care should have a positive effect on your life.

Take care and good luck with the liver doctor.

Marg

PS.  I just read your opening post again.  I have a "happy needle" in my ear at the moment, (given by my acupuncturist).  It is amazing for depression.  I am also taking a herb to make me "calm and peaceful all the time" Dr. Chen said.  Can't remember it's name.  I'll ask him again next visit.
