Hi everyone.
I'm 22 female and was diagnosed with AIH two years ago. I started treatment with a biopsy and was put on imuran when they found some cirrosis.
Since then the meds have been making me sick, so I stopped them due to that and no health insurance a year ago. Recently (a month ago) I got my health insurance set up and did another biopsy, which revealed the liver was even worse.
Now I'm starting on 40mg of prednisone a day for 2 weeks, then lab work, then down from there hopefully!
I'm only on my second to last day of the first week on this drug and already I can tell. I wake up with nightsweats and my back has been killing me! (I work as a caretaker)
I was just wondering if I would feel the other effects only being on this high dose for about one more week. Being younger, I'm a bit worried about the weight gain and moonface.
Any advice and knowledge is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum. Am glad that you have began treatment again for AIH. I too have AIH and understand your concerns about long term prednisone use. I have only recently in the last several months began to feel the effects of the prednisone after being on a maintance dose of 10 mg's. for six months. I started out at 30mg's and tapered down from there. The real weight gain didn't happen immediately, although at that time I really was more cautious about what I ate and the pred gave me such a relief from the fatigue I felt that I was more active.

Good luck to you and I hpoe you find the support here that I have
