As some of you know, I had the entire right lobe of my liver removed May 15th, due to a large, cancerous tumor, the result of hep C.  The surgery went well, and I felt great for two months post-op.  However, I then developed a hiatal hernia at one of the incision sites.  My surgeon did not want to repair it until I am completely healed from the liver surgery.  I've been feeling nauseous and unwell, with inability to eat much at one time.  I had a meeting yesterday with the surgery P.A. and the surgeon, and he said I am still not healed enough for him to feel comfortable in doing the hernia repair.  He said that the symptoms I'm experiencing have nothing to do with the hernia.  However, since I've only felt this way since the hernia developed and grew larger, I feel he is wrong.

At any rate, it looks as though it will be the end of Oct. or beginning of Nov. before I can have the hernia repair.  sad

I have blood work and scans scheduled for Oct., to determine if any cancer has returned or if any was missed.

Connie I am so sorry that you didn't get better news. The waiting is the hardest part for me. Hope your time flies till you have your hernia operation. Take care of yourself. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Pink Grandma

Thank you, Pink Grandma. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated. One thing I've noticed is that time seems to go by quicker the older I get! I still have serious fatigue, due to the hep C. However, I cannot have treatment until the hernia is repaired and healed. The surgeon yesterday actually mentioned having the treatment first. I told him "no way," as I know the treatment takes about a year, and I do not want to endure this hernia any longer than I have to!

Connie

I am so sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems again. Will keep my fingers crossed that this is the last "going under the knife" you have to endure. I certainly don't blame you for putting off starting treatment right now. One problem at a time if at all possible should be the rule.

Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Lucy, thank you so much. I know I will have to have a revision of my rt. artificial hip somewhere down the road, as it is not positioned correctly and I do have some pain from that. However, revision would not be done until the pain becomes unmanageable or the hip starts dislocating.

The initial left hip replacement, nearly 5 years ago, was the first major surgery I'd ever had--and it's been nonstop ever since!

It is a great comfort to have this forum to come to, and also to know that the experiences I've had may help another.

Take care,
Connie
