HI EVERYONE, I AM A NEWBIE WITH HEP-C. GETTING READY TO START A 6 MONTH TREATMENT AT THE END OF THE MONTH.  I HAVE BEEN READING THESE POSTS FOR about 5 MONTHS NOW AND DECIDED I NEED SOME INTERACTION WITH SOMEONE IN THE SAME BOAT AS I. IT'S SO HARD TO DEAL WITH BY YOURSELF, AND FAMILY JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY MAY HAVE TO DEAL WITH EITHER.
I AM A GENO-2 WITH MODERATE HEPC, PRETTY SURE IT CAME about IN THE 70'S WITH MY DRUG USE.  MY FIRST HUSBAND DIED IN 1988 WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS OF HEP-C BUT THEN THEY DID NOT KNOW MUCH about IT, THEY CALLED IT LIVER DISEASE FROM DRINKING.
I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HEALTHY UNTIL NOW WHEN THE FATIUGE SET IN AND I STILL WORK BUT SOME DAYS ARE VERY HARD.  I DO NOT DRINK AND HAVEN-T FOR YEARS AND HAVE NOT TOUCHED A NEEDLE SINCE 89, ALSO HAVE NOT DONE DRUGS OF ANY KIND SINCE 91.  HOPE THAT MY BE A GOOD BREAK FOR ME.
OH WELL ENOUGH about THE PAST,  I GUESS I JUST NEED TO VENT BECAUSE NOT EVEN MY NEW HUSBAND KNOWS HOW I GOT IT, ONLY A COUPLE PEOPLE DO, DONT KNOW THAT I WANT TO TELL MY HUSBAND THOUGH MAYBE I WILL HAVE TO SOON.
RIGHT NOW I AM SCARED BUT FEEL PRETTY GOOD.
THANKS FOR LISTENING AND I AM GOING TO FIGHT THIS WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE. :-)

Welcome to our forum Hepcowgirl. Glad you decided to join us. I am Pink Grandma and a former cargiver for my husband who past away from liver cancer caused by Hep C and cirrohsis. I am also glad you're going to fight it with everything you have. Since you have been reading our posts for a few months you probably know what to expect. Just make sure that you do all your testing as the doctors order them. Sometimes you may have to remind them. You are probably right that you should be telling your husband soon. You need someone in corner to fight with you and for you to get good healthcare. Take care and good luck. :-) Pink Grandma

Hi!  Welcome to the forum!  I also have hep C, from drug use in the late 60s.  It was basically left untreated, which led to liver cancer.  If you have been reading our posts, then you probably know that I had cancer treatment, followed by excision of the rt. lobe of my liver in May.  Once I have hernia repair and heal from that, I will start treatment for the hep C.  I am still exhausted all the time.  I do hope you will tell your husband very soon.  I tell very few people about my hep C, due to the fact that the first question asked is how I got it--and I don't care to go into that.

I hope your treatment will be successful.  Please continue to come here and post!

Connie

Hello Hepcowgirl, How are you doing today? How you are doing good. You are right about it being a while ride. It's great that you have a supportive husband. You will need him. He does need to get educated on your disease and play a big part in your healthcare. Have a great evening :-) Pink Grandma
