Does anyone know the difference.  I was diagnosed about 10 years ago with IBS-C.  about 6 years ago, they are calling it colonic inertia.  I had a Sitz Marker Study done.  On the 8th day, I had only passed 3 of the 24 rings and they were all hung up in the sigmoid colon.  I have read that if you have colonic inertia, usually the rings are dispersed throughout the colon.
To make a long story short, I am due to have a total colectomy soon.  I really scared and hope I am making the right decision.
Right now, my regimen is basically laxatives every 4 or so days.  I have tried ALL medications, Miralax, Zelnorm, Amitiza...
