Chance are you are swallowing air or drinking carbonated beverages. If you are not eating anything that is about the only thing it can be.

Have you had a breathlyzer test for bacteria overgrowth? Bad bacteria is often the cause of the excess gas that makes you swell up like that, although it is odd that you swell up even without any food; most of the time it doesn't start until you stimulate the bacteria. However, anything other than water might stimulate them; anything sweet (fake or real sugar) will certainly get them cranked, even if the sweet is in a drink. Many bad bacteria feed off sugar.

Wow, been a while since I have been here.

There is another explanation for the increase in stomach air...especially with not eating. When you don't eat, there is nothing for the stomach acid to digest, therefore, nothing to settle it down. In my situation if I don't eat I am worse off, I begin to swell, stomach gargles loudly, and I tend to belch a lot. I can feel my stomach churning, and watch my gut swell up.

I would suggest eating small bits just to keep your stomach acid knocked down some, see if that helps at all.

My stomach has been swelling up and down for years. Two specialists have told me that my system just does that and nothing will help. Ive tried alot anyway no relief. Now it will not go down. Have to either dye my hair so I dont look like 50 yr old pregnant or get a new wardrobe cause I cant wear sweatshirts and jackets all summer. After I eat I feel miserable cause swell even more.

2 excellent suggestion are; fibre supplements or increase your daily fibre intake, fibre aids with both C and D, it helps keep you regular...also a good probiotic daily along with the fibre daily as well...much of what causes bloating and gas is bad bacterial over-growth which is why both fibre (foods or supplements or even both) and probiotics aid with...fibre helps sweep the bowels clean of bad bacteria and probiotics are good bacteria that are needed to maintain a healthy gut flora, resulting in getting rid of bloating and excess gas.
