I'm 88 and since Jan 2008 have had diarrhea at least twice a day. Yes, all the tests are negative.
Tried Questran and Imodium and presently on sucralfate. It's better but still happens almost everyday. The good thing is I have a normal bm maybe twice a week, inbetween all the diarrhea. I don't want to go anywhere or eat anything. Mostly happens in the morning or evening. Depends helps hold it mostly but not all the time. Has anyone gone to Mayo Clinic? I'm ready to do anything. I guess I should be thankful it only happens 2-3 times a day. Any suggestions? Vegetarian? I'm on gluten free already.
No fun! HELP!!

Have you changed any meds you might have been taking before the diarrhea started. You may be taking calcium with magnesium or a multi vitamin that may cause the diarrhea to happen. You can take calcium carbonate with vitamin D with your meals and this can stop things up.

Hi mjfm, welcome to the board! Can I ask if you're seeing a physician about this recent-onset change in bowel habits? I think it would be important for you to go get this checked out, because there could be a number of factors involved. That, I think, should be the first course of action, if possible!

Thanks for the feedback. The diarrhea had been on and off the last year, but got really bad after Christmas. Yes, I've been through the doctors. Seeing a different gastoenterologist today. I just moved to a new city. I do take lots of medications, but have been for some time. I'll check into the calcium today.
I'll let you know what he says today.
