I want to add that I am also skeptical of the whole "food allergy" theory. I might eat my words but it seems to me that, judging by my own experience, and the experiences of the countless members here (and the three other message boards I frequent), that it's not usually the food itself that causes the problems but the digestive function itself. Time after time people state that pain occurs regardless of what they eat. Many have fiddled with their diets for years trying, in vain, to find that specific food item, or food group, that is causing the problem. But even the medical field will state that IBS is a disorder within the intestines themselves. We have all learned, through trial and error, that certain foods will cause more distress (like the rice and beans I ate tonight, stupid girl!) due to the over sensitivity of the IBS gut. But to say an "allergy" to certain foods is the root cause is, in my opinion, a stretch. Just one gal's thoughts.

It's definitely hard to know for sure isn't it...I for one never like to rule out any possibilities though and in the case of food allergies it's comparable to what came first, the chicken or the egg (some of whom do have allergies to LOL).

People can also suddenly develop food allergies too, which is probably a whole other can of worms...who knows, but the body is a bizzare thing that's for sure.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

Gutsy, did you mean to post this on that other thread? It'd probably be good to cut-and-paste this into a new post on the food allergy thread and then I can delete this one. :)

OK the new specialist I went to today agrees that allergies do not cause IBS. He said a biopsy done during my colonoscopy ruled that out. I forgot that. He also said I had been to the best t IU med. center. I would never stop this, all I could do was make the D better with medication NOT all the time though, was just too many factors and no cure. Also said that just because I cannot fuction at my job or do amything outside of house when it flares up, it was not considered a disability HA! That a medicine would help for a while, then for no reason stop. HE basically said what I have been going thru for years will never get better, at least he didnt PROMISE he could correct D like everybody else. Of course I have to have more stool sample test to make sure I dont have my bacteria back. Said just because my liver scan was clear still needed to make sure there wasnt a reason for hihg enzymes, more blood work. AND go to urologist for frequent urination. So I go to GAStri. and DERM.for schorriasis(CANT SPELL)family Dr. for sinus infection etc. Now another DR. This is rediculous and I GIVE UP. SO take off work to go to 4 DRs. and have test all the time and continue to embarrass yourself on a regular basis, never relax and enjoy, take medicine that will probably affect the rest of your body. I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!!! Not that I expected him to help, I just wanted to stay home from work and try to control this, not be a burden to my co workers. I just feel like when you have IBS it is like no one understands. I know those on here do. Thanks so much.at least I dont think it is just me anymore.

Normal-You spoke of 2 symptoms you have that can be, and perhaps are fungus related...sinus infections and psoriasis. Is it also possible that your IBS symptoms have a fungal etiology? That's what jumped out at me when I read your story, anyway. Have you ever read that some people who follow a candida/antifungal diet have gotten relief of their symptoms? I only mention this because that is the only thing that helped me, when doctors couldn't.

I'm still kind of an airhead when it comes to editing threads, so I just added a title. You'd think the moderator would be a bit more savvy :)
