I was thinking about this tonight, eating dinner and then heading off to sit on the throne, then again just before I hopped in the shower, then being interrupted in my shower to take my righteous place on the throne yet again...even though I am "only" having 5-6 bouts of diarrhea per day (in contrast to before, when it was 10, 15, upwards of that), I still notice I am invariably lightheaded upon standing, that my heart is working harder, that I am never without a reminder that whatever this is...will be with me for a while.

I wonder after dealing with diarrhea for so many years, where is our new set point? If I tell the doctor I still have diarrhea 5-6 times a day, but I'm feeling okay about that, he'll look at me like I have two heads. SHOULD I be okay with that many? What is an acceptable range?

I implore you to share your thoughts on the matter...where is that magical point that we should be aiming for? Even if it's just a range...

Good question.  Before I had my gb out, I was a once-a-dayer.  So ideally, I would love to get back to that.

However, I know that's probably never going to happen, so I would be OK with one visit to the throne after each meal.  That would be fine with me.  Without the urgency, of course.  LOL.

My goal right now is to be able to male it to the throne! 5 a day is a very acceptable no. for me. Its when I cant make it that really hurts. I dont eat out anymore cause drive home is not always good. Hopefully Ive got a bacteria thing going and when treated I will be better. Is that not so sad wanting to have somthing wrong so it can be treated to make you feel better. Sarita Ive had this for 25 years why is there no cure or even more empathy from Drs. and everyone? Is there even research being done for solution?

Even though I don't know what's wrong with me, actually, enough of my classmates have seen me hauling @ss out of the room multiple times during lectures, and they all seem very empathetic! Even my professors...they will do whatever they can do to help me. I think you're going to start seeing a new generation of docs who know and are more empathetic to the cause. YES, there is a TON of research being done, actually. It is a huge topic in medical circles. We'll talk more...as for now I have to go do some last-minute cramming for my physiology exam, LOL (in 1 hour, eek)!

Thanks for the laugh Sarita. I needed that. Also needed to hear about people actually doing something for this. The majority of people just cant even think about our D, I understand that, it makes it a very hard problem to deal with. But I cant handle DRs. acting like I am being a big baby or expecting to much to try and stop messing myself at 50! Or work and Drs. not understanding I need to stay home to be by the bathroom. Cant even make it thru my house today, really cramping. Gotta do 3 days of stool samples to see if I have another bacteria. GOnna be a long week. Want to see friends and loved ones so bad but havent been able to for 2 weeks now. I need to stop being on computer all day and get something done anyway. I think maybe Drs. should get on forums and maybe learn what some of their patients go thru. Need food but dont dare go to store at this point. Will have to have someone go for me. Take care.
