What was the med? Maybe someone will know something else. Are you talking about Zelnorm by chance. If so certain Doctors can still prescribe it. I don't know how they apply to do it but it is available under certain circumstances.

It was Zelnorm. He gave me a bunch of samples the day of my colonoscopy, I was still out of it lol but he gave them to my husband and told him that my IBS was so bad that he almost couldnt do my colonoscopy because of the spasms in my colon. By the way thank you for the reply!

Dicetel is a med specifically for IBS...talk to your doc, they should know ALL the drugs used for treating IBS, although even with the Dicetel my daughters doc said that it's not something they want to keep anyone on indefinitely, he said because for the most part, IBS can be controlled by diet (enough fibre for either C or D) and exercise...he said that's the latest news on IBS.

Dicetel is mainly to help kick start getting the bowels to work properly again and not to be relyed on for the rest of your life, instead using the drug and then immediately starting proper eating habits (enough fibre, being key) and exercising regularly for the rest of your life in order to keep IBS behaving...This is how the doc explained it.

:)
My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

Everyone's different. What works for some won't work for others. That being said, I like dicyclomine (Bentyl) for cramping. Immodium is okay in a pinch for the diarrhea, but it's effects are variable on me...sometimes it doesn't work (but then again, nothing else really does either)!
