This morning, out of the blue on an empty tummy I got cramping/gripey feeling so painful I slid down onto the floor and just lay there moaning for about 30 minutes.  It seemed to ease slightly if I lay flat on my stomach and stretched out.  It went away after about 50 minutes and I could stand up again.  My poor guy was really stressed at this point.  We went out later and I had some yoghurt for lunch, but it came straight back up.  Has this happened to anyone else? The pain was incredible and now I am too scared to eat anything.

Yea, that's happened to me before, especially lately.  I normally have IBS-A so it isn't that bad, but when I get bad Ds, then I can be in pain for at least an hour at a time on and off during the entire day.  Pain reliever never helps it, and it always comes with a big urgency to go.  The only thing I can do is just sit, moan, and wait for it to pass.  Once my body expels whatever is causing it, it normally stops/lightens up.

Sometimes I get it on an empty stomach if I'm gassy.

Dx with crohn's since Oct '04.
Dx with IBS since June 4, 2008.
Have had symptoms since 2000.
Medications: Levbid

I get that type of pain when I wait too long to eat. Then, by the time I get some food, I feel like it's too late... The pain doesn't go away for hours. I don't know if this is your problem as well, but my doc said to make sure to eat something small at least every few hours.
I hope you're feeling better...

I have diagnosed IBS, but I don't take meds.  The pain lasted only 30 mins so I think I am lucky.  Yeesh! I have had some spinach now and it seems to be doing the proper thing. Phew. Thanks for input guys.  I will ask doc about it all.
