Peppermint is soothing to the stomach but it can cause more acid problems which cause more gas problems. It sort of depends on what is causing the gas. Peppermint is one of 3 No-No's for people with acid problems. The other two are alcohol and chocolate. Those three are for everyone, after that it is what you find bothers you. I use a peppermint, ginger, fennel pill I get on line sometimes and it is supposed to delay the peppermint part till it get into the small intestines. Not sure it does but it doesn't seem to bother me and can really help with trapped gas and indigestion. I definetly would not use plain peppermint pills.
