I had a real sucky day today but everything is fine now I guess it all started when I decided to eat some ice cream but this ice cream was lactose free cause I'm lactose intolerant and I thought it would be no problem and I'd be able to handle it.I love chocolate and chocolate is one of the foods I cant have anymore because of IBS and I have not had chocolate in a long ass time so I was craving some big time, that ice cream that I got was all chocolate it was called chocolate obsession lol.I bought a little pint of it before and ate the whole thing to myself cause it tasted so good and could not get enough of it.The first time I ate it I had no problems except a little bit of constipation it did not give me the D at all it settled well. Then I was craving some more of it a couple of days later after I had an early dinner I went to the supermarket and bought some I told myself I was not going to eat all of it but I ended up eating the whole thing that night it was so so good that was all I had to eat that night.Weeeeell next day I was so constipated and was having difficulty having my bms was able to have one bm but I was not satisfied with what came out lol so I had breakfast then later dinner.Lord have mercy after dinner came home was still feeling backed up and I know it was the ice cream that was making me feel this way.I started getting a bought of real bad gas then it passed I was alright was hungry again everything was fine went to bed. This morning was feeling constipated again had breakfast later had dinner then came home OH LORD!!!! it started up my stomach started grumbling had some gas I had some bms thought that was it cause I felt good cause I was happy with the bms that I had.I was soooo wrong stomach stared growling again and cramping with pain I was OH HELL TO THE NO!!!! I was getting ready for another bout of D and it sure came with a fierceness lol.I feel all better now even though I hate getting the dreaded D I always feel better after things are calm and at peace till I eat again then it's a wait and see if things will settle and be alright.I'm just glad I do not get it everyday that would just kill me and make me feel worse. That was my day I just thought I'd share that with you all I know you guys may get days like those too I know now I will not eat anymore of all that ice cream lol I learned my lesson.I'm right now hungry again cause everything I ate came out of me lol I'm going to play it save and just have a bowl of cereal, right now I'm watching the TONY AWARDS and relaxing.I wish everyone the best and send all my love your way till next entry later. :-)

Here's the thing.... Moderation.  I think many of us can handle the "no-no" foods as long as we're careful.  We need to learn when to restrain ourselves.  I wouldn't swear off your lactose-free chocolate obsession, I would just ration it out.
I have to admit though, sometimes I eat when I know I'm going to pay for it.  It's something I think out carefully and weigh out the pros and cons.  Sometimes it's just worth it to be in tastebud heaven for a moment of bliss (followed by what seems like the devil's wrath).  tongue

I'm glad you're feeling better though.  It's actually sort of refreshing to know exactly what caused your attack.  All too often we are left with a bunch of question marks.

With the Lactose intolerances, the way I understand it, we have a certain amount of bacteria or enyzmyes (forget which) in our digestive system that can process milk products.  When we eat more than we can safely digest we have our problems.  Lactaid and other products can help with that digestion (if taken at the right time) but there is still a point where too much is too much.  So, as said above, it's about moderation.

On the other side there are folks who have milk allergies.  That is not the same thing as lactose intolerance.  If folks have a milk allergy you'd be surprised by home many things have lactose or other milk byproducts in them.  Ugh.

The ice cream had no milk products in it it was a dairy free ice cream I think it was the chocolate that caused me to feel the way I felt. The reason I ate all of it cause it was dairy free and I thought I'd be able to handle it.I realize now in moderation I've learned my lesson thank you guys for your advice take care everyone. :-)
