LAst night for the 1st time, I woke up only to find I was sleeping in diarreah. I had "ran" to the bathroom all day & thought I was done for the night. I guess I was'nt. As the years go by with this crazy "ruuning"   I will need that bag. Does anyone else have this problem? I was prescibed Percoset last week. (for kidney stones) The Doctor said it would give me constipation. (I'm still waiting LOL)

Simzee,
I've never woke up that way, but I know when I have diarreaha and have to go I have to go NOW! There is no holding it. I think that is why I choose to stay home most of the time and why I find it hard to hold down a job. I hope you feel better. Best of luck.

Losing total control of one's bowels can indicate a problem with something other than your bowels.  You might have some sort of sleep disorder that's keeping you in too deep a sleep to respond to your body's signals that it needs to go.  Your anus (I think that's the spincter muscle) may also be too relaxed to help you contain your bowels well enough.  That's something to suspect if you have messed yourself while awake too.  Physical therapy may can help tighten that muscle.  I have also read that they are experimenting with using botox in the muscle in the bladder that can get too weak and cause people to leak pee.  The botox stiffens and partially paralyszes the muscle so that it can stay in place better.  Might work on the anus if it is too weak.

If you've never messed yourself before, though, then it might be a weird, random incident.  Even normal people can get the stomach bug so bad that they mess themselves.

Dang, simzee, that sounds miserable...is that Percocet doing anything for you? It's one of the only drugs that constipates me!

Yeah, I'd agree you need to follow up with this...incontinence in the middle of the night seems like a red flag to me.

I did go to Doctor for the kidney stones. He did ask about my "runnings" & thought it was Crohn's till I told my story. The only thing percosets do to me is make me feel loopy. ( I'm not a pill person) uh-oh, gotta run. Have a gr8 day all.
