Ok . Last week on a wedsnday i had my GB taken out ... Alot of swelling for the first 2 days or so .But as the swelling went down and i eat i started feeling that same effect as i did before but not as bad . Like someone is blowing a small balloon up under my ribs . Its not painful just drives me nuts to have the feeling . I read up on things about it and one thing i read was it could be phantom . Where my brain hasnt relize my gallbladder is gone . To me it feels like back up pressure . I now think i have ibs cause i go several times a day to where before it was like maybe once every 5 to 6 days . I know before the surgery they did an x-ray and they said i was badly back up . Tomorrow i go for my week check up and would like to know what i should be asking the doctor being that i am still having the syptoms just not as bad . Did anyone else have this problem to where they feel like they swell when they eat ..

Yes, you can have phantom pains. Also realize that although your entrance incision is down in your bellybutton area, you did have an organ cut off from the bile duct and sucked out of the general area of your chest cavity. In short, you have internal wounds which need time to heal.

Give your guts 6-8 weeks to figure out how to function now without your gall bladder. If you still have problems, like the diarrhea, there is medicine to help. But some people, after the inital adjustement phase, balance out to something approaching normal. Just keep your diet light and easy. Feed yourself as if you had the stomach flu. For the first three or four weeks after I got my GB out, I had to abstain from pork and beef; it was apparently too hard to digest. I can handle both now (although I mostly eat chicken, which is what I like best anyhow).
