I have had IBS for 20 years.  the symptoms vary at times.  the biggest problem is pain and bloating.  I am normally on the slender size but when i was bloated asked if i was pregnant.  now that made me feel better.  I have constipation but even when that is under control the gas and pain remain.  I actually have diarhea now.  I have tried to see what it is in my diet.  but In onw week I ate the exact same thng and a few days ok , a few day pain and gas.  I have been on medicines for spasm but they don't help.  I have had a colonoscope and a ct-scan.  Found nothing .  which really was a disappointment.  I was hoping they would find somethng that they could fix.   It is depressing.  I don't want to go out and do things because of wither pain or the fact tht when I fart there is an unbelievable smell ,  My family is use to it.  there are days at work I can barely get through becasue of  it.   I am at my wits end.  I haven't even been able to run in the morning as regular as I like because of it  Any suggestions

For me, eliminating grains, sugar, yeast, actually all processed foods for a time helped me tremendously. I now only eat those foods in moderation. You may have a yeast overgrowth and the foods you are eating (grains/sugar)are feeding the yeast, causing your symptoms. If you can't go cold turkey with changing your diet, try eliminating all foods with yeast (what does yeast do to bread?) and all grains for a while. Sugar can be a trigger, as well. Do you eat artificial sugar? That is generally a no-no for IBS'ers, as well. Peppermint tea or hot water with added peppermint oil (found in baking goods aisle in the grocery store) can help with the gas and bloating. Good luck!
