Just went to pickup the normal Hyoscymine that I always get for a couple bucks and found that it is no longer available and the cheapest I could get with my insurance would be over $60 for 90 and it also is a generic. Levsin is not even available at the moment thru their vender which is the largest in the US. I had heard it had been taken off the formulary but it seems it is more than that, the cheap generic is just not available.  Can't find it on my on line sources either. Anyone with info.

I am replying to myself because I can't believe that noone has mentioned that they have had a problem getting this. There have been a number of people that take Levsin as an antispasmotic that have talked about it on here so what are you going to take now?

I had a prescription for hyoscamine once before, but I thought that name was generic for something else.

No, it is for Levsin. It is sometimes used for bladder problems though so maybe you had it for that as it cuts down on the urgency.

Hey canyon, that's bizarre, hyoscyamine should be readily available in the generic form. Have you asked your pharmacist about it? Have you ever tried dicyclomine before? It's another anti-spasmodic...

No, it is gone and for the time being so is Levsin, Levbid. I read it also on a couple other forums when I google it. Have no idea what the problem is. Yes, I will have to go with Diyclomine(Bentyl) I don't use it all that much as I don't have the spasm pain but with my COPD I get times when things just feel numb in my left side and it seems to help. I just hate going to Dr. to get a prescription. He is not a telephone friendly Doctor but I might call his nurse. Am sure he is aware of this. Apparantly it has been disappearing since January. Since the cheap generic is gone apparantly everyone is buying the branded. What I don't understand is why they had a different generic in the bottle for that outrageous price. Going to Walgreens tomorrow and find out from them what is going on. They should know.

Hi Canyon. I post on Crohns but take hyosciamine as well. I have to refill mine soon and now that I know you had problems I will try to refill it tomorrow. Like you, I don't take mine very often. A lot of us on the crohns board take this so you might want to try moving your question there.

I also have bad acid reflux and have been on PPI's since age 13. I have been through prilosec, prevacid, and nexium. Currently I am on Protonix in the morning and Zantac at night. I also take a birth control pill to allow some fun in my life.

Let us know if you can get it filled. Like I said if I wanted to pay over $60 for something that they called generic I could have gotten it. It was dropped off my medical formulary apparantly the beginning of the year. I had not filled since Nov. I couldn't find any at Costco either though I saw it on Rite Aid but someone on another forum said when they got there there wasn't any. All sounds very weird to me. I know Walgreens will know more about it.

Ok, I got mine filled at a CVS in Maine. They still had some left but I don't think they have received any new supply. My pills are now white instead of blue. I asked about it and she said it is from a different manufacturer but still sublingual. I got 60 pills for $10 and they are .125 strength.

Not that bladder! I checked 3 places today and finally the grocery drug store they had 100 that could be used either swallow or sublinqual so they transferred the prescription for me and I got those. At first they said I would need a new prescription because they were not SL type but when I read the bottle it said coule be used that way so they filled it. When they went to reorder, they told me that got a not available any longer. The Levsin would have been over $100 for 120 and then Walgreens had one that they said was from a generic company but it was over $100 also by a great margin. I got these 100 for $19.99 so grabbed them. By the time they are used I will be back to see my Doctor or maybe this will shake out. Pharmacist said they were not prescribed that much so maybe no profit for maker. Apparantly not if they are over $100 for others. I think the only way you will find them is in drug stores not that busy like supermarkets, maybe.

Fitzy, do you have insurance? This was dropped from my insurance I guess in Jan 2008 though I didn't receive info that it had been. Medicare Plan D is plan specific in what you can get.

I do have insurance but it is a three tier system and $10 is the lowest copay on the tier. So either the drug would have cost $10 out of pocket or it was on the cheapest level for the company.

Interesting as they told me I would need a new prescription since all they had was the non sublinqual but when I noticed on the bottle that you could use them either way they said OK. I haven't opened mine yet but hope they are not caplets. The ones I used to get were blue.

I used to get blue too. My new ones are white but the same size. I haven't used one yet.
