I hve not had this done but I wonder what treatments they use if you do have a problem. What exactly are they looking for with your test since it is an esophageal test.

It's for the urgency I feel you have me thinking why I'm getting this kind of test done they should be really checking my sphincter.I'm going to double check with my G.I doctor just to make sure I do not want to end up getting the wrong procedure done.

This test is to measure the pressure in the lower esophagous. Is that what you want measured. When you say "urgency" I don't think of esophagous. Its not a fun test from what I have heard so be sure that is what you want. I know my lower esophageal sphincter is floppy because I have acid reflux problems and there are surgeries that can help but due to my age and other health problems and the fact that this is not always successful surgery I will pass on it and live with what I have. I assume you have had endoscopy.

I have had this procedure done. It actually measures the strength of your sphincter and muscles and all that stuff "down there"
It would make sense to test this if you are experiencing urgency.

It doesn't hurt (only your pride). You will lay on your side and the nurse/doctor slips a device in your rectum kind of like a balloon. Then they
fill it with water. What they do is increase the pressure until you say that you can't hold it anymore.

I think there is also something about when they take it out too but it was a couple of years ago.

Nothing to worry about any way. Its painless and pretty quick.

Oh, I only read about the one down the throat and thru the nose into the esophagous. The one I read about takes about an hour. Here is a link to the anal one. That is probably the one jtaurus is going to have. So what do they do for you based on the test. That is always my deciding factor as to if I want a test done.

It went good woke up real early was kind of tired but that feeling passed left got there on time then waited a little. They came out and got me in the morning is not a good time for me that is when some of my symptoms act up so I was feeling backed up and gassy lol.Luckily they held up till after my procedure I had to lay down and lay on both sides at one point lol my but was facing the person working the ultrasound machine I was so afraid I was going to let one rip by accident lol.Thank God everything was fine she said nothing seemed to be abnormal but I should wait till my G.I doctor calls with the results or I should call myself I think I'm going to call myself.Other then that came home had breakfast slept till about 1:30 got on my bike and went for a ride came across a beautiful pond and just sat there and all my stress and worries over my IBS left me for awhile and headed back home where I'm back to feeling awful but I'll be alright I always am. roll
