Lastnight I had a very bad night with my IBS. I was up with very bad pain in my stomach and it started out solid, but then went to diarrhea. I didn't push very hard either. This morning I had to go a little bit again 2 times and there was some bright red blood in the toliet and on the toliet paper itself. I wiped once and saw it, when I wiped again there was no more blood. Not real sure what to make of this being this is the first time it's happened. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I think there is a bit of a virus going around here, and so my husband thinks that it might just be a little stomach virus.

Thanks.

Sounds like Piles which have become irritated from from frequent bowel movements - however you need to tell your doctor and get it checked as it can be other stuff like Chrohn's and Colitis. The most likely outcome is piles especially if it is bright red.

Diagnosis: Oct 07 - Non Specific Colitis (possible UC or Chrohn's but biopsy not confirmed by 2 seperate GI's) (Mild inflammation on Rectum, Plus some patchy inflammation on Right side of Colon). 2 small Piles also diagnosed but not clear whether they are bleeding or not.

Medication Still taking: 800mg Mesalazine (Asacol) 3 times a day appear to have stopped working.

Symptoms: Jun 08 - Bleeding returns with diarrhoea after taking meds for stomach ulcer. Sigmoidoscopy in June rules out rectal inflammation, Colonoscopy planned for August. (Doctor hinting it's Piles and IBS). No pain, no other symptoms.

Procedures: 2x Sigmoidoscopy result - all slight non specific inflammation non IBD. 1x Colonoscopy result - mild non specific inflammation on right hand side - IBD not confirmed. 1x OGD result - small ulcer. Barium MRI of stomach and small bowel result - all normal.

Well hubby took me to the ER, because it was just troubling me. They said that I have internal hemorriods that had become irritated and they put me on Lactulose to soften my stools, even though I was having diarrhea. I am going to be making an appointment with my doctor tomorrow.

sounds like hemmies to me. Sometimes they rupture and will even bleed for a couple days but always good to get it checked out. Unless there is a constant flow bleeding though you can wait to see a Dr.
