Sorry for being graphic and I'm sorry that I have been posting in awhile, I have been reading when I can.
It has been a long summer with no progress.  The Dr's say Sierra needs surgery as prednisone is the only thing that keeps her at bay.  As soon as she goes off, she goes back into a flare and each time is worse.  They say they need to remove a little over a foot at the illeum that is strictured.  They won't schedule surgery since we don't have insurance.  Her Dr told me when she gets bad to take her to the ER as they can't refuse surgery in an emergency regardless of payment.  I don't know where you draw the line?  How do you know it's an "emergency" situation?  I certainly don't want it to go to far either!  I have placed a call to her Dr and am waiting for him to call me back, GRRR -waiting stinks!  She has been having excessive diarreah, some blood and pains but I had to pick her up from school this morning because she says the pains feels like she is being staabbed in the lower abdomen and bentyl is not helping.  She is vomiting and it is green, which started at school.  She doesn't have a fever.  I know you all can't tell me medical advice but it seems as if you all offer more information than the Dr's!!!!!
Dx w/UC in 2001 - controlled by diet.

lil-momma: I do not feel qualified to answer your questions but I know there has to be somewhere here that can help you. So the least I can do is bump up your topic and say I hope and pray your daughter feels much better, soon.

Well, you are more patient than I would be. She should be in ER right now if there is any blood or vomiting green. I am wondering just how much iron she is taking as that can really play havoc with a stomach and I believe I have heard something about the green vomit or maybe it is bile. In any case there has to be somewhere for you to get help. County hospital comes to mind. Are you on any type of assistance program? I don't have an answer but were it my child I would park myself with all her vomit and blood in ER and not leave till she was taken care of properly. I am sure the school might be able to substantiate the problem. She has been diagnosed and evaluated for surgery. I just don't understand even without insurance why there is not some help. What about Medicaid or low income help from city. Just some ideas. I know it must be really frustrating but this isn't right and there has to be a solution.

I had sharp stabbing pain and all kinds of test and doctors could'nt find nothing and
took out my gallbladder! nothing helped until I Quit Wheat & Gluten,Dairy and low
Sugar Intake. Was in Er room 3 times a week in severe Pain & sweating for almost
4 years . Now Pain-Free about 3 years. I swore my pain wasn't gas but Gas-X thin
strips under the tongue worked for me. Gas -X in liquid did nothing for me?
500 mg Magnesium for spastic colon pain helps at bedtime!
