I was wondering how much diahreah is too much? I "run" 4 to 6 days a week at least 5 times an hour for 12 or more hours a day.( this is "normal" for me)  I've spoken with some fellow sufferers & they go a LOT LESS than me. This really rots for me since I do not have much of a life because of this. Thank You for any help. Happy day & Peace Out  !!!!

If you go 5 times an hour for 12 hours a day, that is 60 bowel movements a day. Are you kidding me?

How would anyone have that much to get rid of? You must be seriously dehydrated. I have never heard of anyone that goes that much as that is virtually continuous. What does the Doctor say?

When I told my GI about 4ish yrs ago that I was going 30+ (give or take a few) in a day (an entire 24 hr period) he said that was pretty hard to believe, then I told him that amount also included just mucus trips only and then he said that sounded a little more reasonable (I have IBS and crohn's and at the time was also severely lactose intolerant but didn't realize it as it was masked by my CD and IBS).

No, I'm not kidding. By the sound of the comments, I guess I go a lot. Dr's have told me it's normal for me to go like that. This is why I always wondered if I needed a "bag" (yuk) All my runnings have caused me to not eat as much. No, I do not starve myself. ( I eat once daily,) I will try almost anything once to go less no matter how crazy it is. Thank you for replies.

I have days of 30+ episodes and after a few of those, my electrolytes are so messed up I'm in the hospital. My BMs are like tidal waves, though...are you going a small amount each time? What about Immodium?

My "runnings" are almost constant. More like a volcano, it's an all out explosion. Immodium does not help at all. The only thing that helps at all is by eating very little everyday. Maybe us ibs sufferers could put our heads together & come up with something that does work for everyone. Happy Day all & Peace Out !!!

Have you tried the Imodium Advanced (Imodium AD)? I swear that stuff could stop a train.

That stuff really works. Diahrea is not usually my problem but after going thru a spell of it I now keep Immodium in the car. I couldn't believe how fast it worked.

If you have not tried "Digestive Advantage" for IBS, which you can buy at Walmart, you should try it as my sister finally tried it after having problems for years.  It took a while for it to work for her, but she started out with one tablet as directed, then had to go to two tablets.  She now no longer has to take Immodium or any medication for her chronic IBS.  You have to have patience at first.
