Interesting piece of advice there......

Do I believe it?

NO way! LOL

Stress does have something to do with it, but it's not the sole cause, IMHO. I personally think managing IBS is like trying to solve a puzzle. If all the pieces to my specific IBS puzzle are in place, I do okay. Not great, not bad. If one is missing - I am in trouble! I just make sure I keep them all in place (low stress, eating the foods that agree with me the most, knowing where every bathroom is, taking Colace each night, etc.).

I'll be curious to see what responses you get here.

I would talk to the gastro and tell him what the dietician said. That is ridiculous. Obviously he has never head of food allergies. Aer you sure this person was a dietician. I hope he is not doing the menu's for the local hospital as he will probably kill someone or at least make them very sick. He sounds like a total idiot. Where did you find this person?

Well, a salad is the last thing you need and I love tuna but sometimes find  hard to digest. I can only tell you what my doctor told me and that was No red meat, fish and chicken only(not fried) cooked veggies, no fresh fruit or veggies, potatoes or noodles. No dairy, no alcohol and no chocolate. No cola's or caffeine. It is boring but it did help. Acidophalous should not make you worse though it can cause some gas.

I would also suggest another gastroenterologist and get a motility study. The constipation can be causing the pain and bloating. Take a laxative like Dulcolax and see if that relieves it for awhile in the meantime. It won't hurt you. I don't remember what tests you have had. I don't know what a GI dietitian is and what credentials he has.

I also recommend a heating pad for pain.

It's not the food?  I wonder about that.   I eat every other day to stop going to the bathroom every other day. For I know as soon as I eat ANYTHING, I'll "RUN" to the bathroom. Anything & everything makes me "run".  Good Luck.

Every other day? Wow, I am impressed. I could try that....

Intake in my opinion is very important to consider. Not only what we eat, but when we eat and finally, how much we eat.

Simzee - I work in a middle school cafeteria! And I don't want to eat any of the food either.....our best sandwich? A cold turkey wrap! Which we don't make very often (few times a month). Oh yeah, our fries are good but I know not healthy for us. So I don't even taste anything at work. Besides, we're just too busy to eat anyway......LOL

Humor aside.....Not all the food at my job is that bad....It's the people being very UNSANITARY. (which is why I will not eat there) For example.....they use spagetti spoon for use in gravy. They pick up utensils (mouth side up) after sneezing in hands. They also drop cups, utensils etc. on floor & put them in with the clean ones. Management will not say anything to these people....so I wait till someone else gets sick. PS....I loved it when manaegment would not send the gal with PINK EYE home.

Oh wow, the opposite is true where I work! We work as if the health dept is due to show up at any moment. Because they usually are coming. We can never let up on having everything spotless, dated, labeled, in its proper place. We can get written up for the smallest item.

You actually make me glad of where I work! LOL

But the work in itself is exhausting, just exhausting! Never will I ever take food service for granted. A ton of prep work goes into any kitchen.

Marsky.....That's how we work in our cafeteria....like the Health Department is coming now. But it's the people coming to eat that are unsanitary. I was on a 45 acre pig farm. (numerous times) I was amazed at how clean it was. That's pretty bad.  I could understand a kid being a bit sloppy but an adult knows better. This also leaves me to say that I'd NEVER eat in a casino restaurant. If you only knew.........Happy Day to All. & Peace Out !!!!
