I am not qualified to answer your exact question. But I'm hoping someone here will! This "answer" comes from someone who has to skip meals and feels so much better when I eat light! I am so far from the other spectrum than you are. But if your concerns are on how many ounces or pounds you will lose from 1 day of prep and 1 day of procedure (you can resume eating afterwards, you just cannot drive home, but I would suggest you return to eating slowly), then I think you will do just fine. Most people are worried to have their first colonoscopy! So it sure seems to me you're going into this procedure with a good attitude. I was pretty freaked out having my first (I've had 9 colonoscopies and 2 Flex-sigs) but the actual procedure is nothing to worry about. The prep is the hardest part of a colonoscopy to deal with. I'm sure you'll do fine and be back to normal eating in no time.
- Diagnosed with rectal cancer, April 1999 - Stage I, no treatment necessary
(5 hour colon resection: 90% sigmoid removed, 15 inches of colon removed, gall bladder removed, given temporary colostomy)
- Colostomy reversal, June 1999
- Left with IBS/D symptoms, multiple bm's every day
- On a low residue diet at least 75% of the time
- Takes Colace 50 mg each evening
All in all I do okay, I just use the bathroom A LOT! But I survived and beat cancer!
