I have had IBS for more than 10 years. My IBS symptoms started when I began drinking beverages with HFCS in them. After many years of drinking these beverages, I am now fructose intolerant and have Colitis. I have read up on HFCS. It basically taxes the liver. It makes the liver work too hard. I think my liver can no longer digest fructose due to all the HFCS I have put into my body. I have stopped eating/drinking it, and I'm no longer getting diarrhea.

Does anybody have a similar experience?

Hello,

To be honest, I've never really read up too much on IBS. But since I read your post, I got to thinking about myself. Now that I think about it, foods and drinks with HFCS really upset my stomach, it usually results in diarrhea.
I think you mentioned something about artificial sweetners? I love iced coffee, but coffee in general upsets my stomach, especially when I would order one with splenda instead of sugar to avoid taking in too much sugar.

Now that I'm fructose intolerant, I have trouble with quite a few sweeteners. The following URL shows which ones are high in fructose:

I don't know about artificial sweeteners like Splenda. I've never tried them.
