Hello All.  I'm really new on the panel and I'm searching for help.  I was sincerely touched when I found this panel.  You are all in my prayers.  In the last two weeks I have not been able to have a BM.  My doctor gave me some samples of amitiza 24 mcg.  I've been taken them 2 per day for the last 4 days - One at night and another in the A.M.  With the 1st tablet I had a BM.  I have not had another BM since.  It doesn't seem that I'm having any normal digestive sounds or movements.  I don't even have the urge to have a BM.  This has only been happening to me for the last couple of weeks.  I've had several pressing problems to occur at the same time, causing tremendous stress.  Sometimes it's so bad that I realize I'm actually feeling panic.  In any case I'm not sure if I should continue on the amitiza.  I'm not experiencing any serious side effects.  Nor am I experiencing any pain.  I’m praying that my system will somehow get jump started and begin to work again.  I’m not sure where to go from here or what questions to ask.  Please help.

To be blunt, Stress will screw you up quick :)

Stress has so many unexplained changes to the body its not funny. Not to say thats all thats causing your problems, but its what started mine. Going to work everyday for two years expecting each day to be tapped on the shoulder and escorted to the door with my box of personal affects will do it do you every time :) Stupid Motorola.

Hope you get to feeling better, and wont need this forum in the future. Its my home away from home.

Thank you so much for responding.  I've been adding lots of fiber and water to my diet.  Fruits (grapes, apple with the peel, peaches).  I'm having a bowl of total cereal each morning.  I’ve experienced constipation sometime ago where I had a really hard time passing the BM.  Once it was out my system went back to normal.  I'm trying really hard to manage my stress level.  My husband expects me to just stop thinking negative.  It's not easy.

I know what you mean, it's hard to relax when your bowels don't, but they say there is a mind body link so i am trying to relax, coming here and reading some posts have helped me to, so i am thankful for that.

Hi there

Have you tried anything for your stress levels? If that's what's the base cause of this, why not see if your doctor can help you treat the cause rather than the symptoms? I have IBS/D caused by anxiety and stress and when my doctor kept ignoring me, I went to a naturopath. I'm on a natural anxiety reducer now and it's working really well for me. I feel A LOT better. I'm not cured, but I feel like I'm finally heading down the right path. I'm not saying it's the right solution for everyone, I'm just finding it was the right solution for me. You're right, you can't just turn off the way you think and feel. I find my boyfriend says stuff like that when he gets frustrated with it. It's horrible the way this disease affects so many people and their families. Maybe you could encourage him to get a bit proactive with you and buy a yoga DVD and relax at home together? Some stress reduction for both of you may help, and getting him involved may help him understand more. Best of luck you!

Thank you missmylife. Did your doctor explain how stress interferes with your digestive system? Just curious. Regards,
