For the past several years, a couple of times a year I pass a light brown mucus with my BM. No other symptoms notes. Then about two months ago I had an episode of diarrhea, stomach cramps and passage of a blood tinged mucus. I thought it was due to some bacteria. Well, now I have just had a couple episodes of the light brown mucus but upon close examination realized that it is blood tinged. Not really any other symptoms though. Maybe a bit more gassy. What do you think this is??

Hi and welcome to the site!
It could mean any 1 of several things - hemmies, fissures, IBD or IBS (usually with IBS there isn't blood though), or it could even be something you ate that tinged your stool. Ultimately, you should get checked by a doctor.

Anyone who sees blood in their stool should get it checked out by a doctor. People with IBS can pass mucus but not blood. Is it fresh red blood? If so, it could be a hemmie.
See your doctor and get this checked out
