My doctor recently told me to try Miralax because I only have a bowel movement once every 3-5 days. I thought that was the norm until I recently discussed this subject with a nutritionist. Also, I eat a lot of fiber and beans so I am always bloated and gassy. However, I don't usually feel constipated (i.e., no pain at elimination). I have not been diagnosed with any intestinal or bowel disorders, but am due for my first colonoscopy. My PCP said the infrequent elimination may be due to a redundant colon, which I guess the colonoscopy will show if that's true.
My question is about possible Miralax interference with other drugs. I saw a post on this forum about the possibility of Miralax preventing other medications from being absorbed, such as synthroid. However, I didn't see an answer to this question. Does anyone know if this is a concern? My first priority is to do everything possible to ensure that my thyroid medication is absorbed because I am tired all the time as it is.
Thanks in advance for your help!
