I had a very unusual episode last week and am really curious about it. I've been gluten/wheat/dairy free for a very long time. I haven't eaten anything new (my diet is really boring). I didn't eat anything new that day either.

Last week, I went to bed and woke in the middle of the night with a horribly distended belly (all gas) and I started with the sulphur burps. I did have a slight bout of D (more air than anything else), but it was more about the gas and burps than anything else. I drank only water and green tea when I got to work. It finally went away in the afternoon, never to return.

I'm curious what would cause something like that out of the blue. I'm thinking something didn't agree with me, but I can't think what it might have been. Like I said, I didn't eat anything new.

If it should happen again (I really hope not), is there anything one can take for relief (of the gas)? The burps were just awful, but not as bad as the gas. Could this be indicative of something to watch out for? Gotta love the strange things our bodies do... smilewinkgrin

(edited my poor spelling...burbs indeed!)

Kind of sounds like when you eat something that sours on your stomach, but then dairy is pretty much all I can think of that sours on your stomach, and you say that you don't eat that.

Probably just a bug of some sort, if there's nothing identifiable in the diet. I caught something nasty while I was on vacation. Terrible, terrible cramps. I had water for poops, although I've had more frequent bouts of diarrhea than that. And if I ever let out a fart, it smelled god-awful. It's bad when you make your own eyes water! I had to go see a local doctor and he said there was something going around, but I've still not dismissed the possibility of bad bacteria in the water, because we go to that same place every year and every year someone seems to get sick with vomiting and/or diarrhea. It's well water, so it's possible that it's contaminated with something. I guess because my guts are already sensitive, I got it worse than anyone else has ever had it; I had it all week. Someone else got the same symptoms on the same day, but was over them by the next morning. The cramping and D was proceeded by terrible chills.

I started getting better when I started taking probiotics (the doctor gave me something to calm the cramping and stop the D, but if I stopped the meds, it all came back; when I started taking the probiotics, I got better and stayed better), although I'm still having weird bouts of not-normal-for-me D. My husband is also having some problems, so maybe there's still something going around.

I noticed this has been a while since posted. I have had these symptoms for years. Recently I have had them up to 3 times a week! It starts with the burps.. and if I sit up from laying down, I burp from so deep, it actually hurts.. Then starts with the D.. I have D all day.. first watery then it goes to more substance. and I go about 6 times that day. The burps are so bad tho. They stink so bad.
At first I thought it was eggs, so I cut out eggs. I then thought it was dairy, but I don't eat a lot of dairy. I added eggs and milk back in my diet and I am doing ok on those.
I think I am going to try the probiotics. Are they still working for you keriamom??
