Hi everyone,

New to this board. Was told that I have IBS but when I read other peoples symptoms I don't feel like I can relate. I don't experience diarrhea or constipation. What does happen is this, if I eat a trigger food, such as a bagel or pasta, I will bloat without a doubt. It won't be till the following morning when I am clutching my bed after being woken up but such an intense severe spastic pain in my colon, sometimes unable to get out of bed. After a minute or so it'll calm enough for me to get out of bed and get to the bathroom, sometimes going back into spasm while on the toilet (sorry if TMI). Usually pain will subside once I go #2. Of course today, the pain has lingered a bit. Not the norm.

Has anyone experienced this type of IBS? Is this IBS???

Any info will be helpful

Well if this indeed is  IBS, i have similiar symptoms.
I do something stupid like chew down an entire bag of chips, i feel fine, untill the next day. Always the day after that it hurts. I also dont have diahrrea or constipation, i mostly suffer from weird and sometimes severe pain.

IBS can be just pain and/or bloating; it doesn't also have to include problems with your stool.

Have you had someone check you for Celiac's? It seems pretty telling that you notice this after consuming wheat products. Celiac disease is an allergy to gluten, which is found in wheat (among other things). If you can't afford to go to the doctor, can't get him to test you, or that's already been proved negative (you can sometimes get a false negative and you can also have problems with gluten or other food products which is not an actual allergy--so it won't show up on a test--but affects you just as badly), you can try cutting all gluten out of your diet and see if the bloating and cramping stop. If so, that's a diet you will have to stick with.

Be careful; most everything you buy processed in a store has gluten in it. If you don't want to cook from scratch, you'll have to shop at a health food store, like Whole Foods, which stock a lot of gluten-free food products.

Well it takes a while for food to actually pass through your system, so you could still be reacting to a trigger food. Might be wheat? And I know I have pain and wind in the mornings. There's diffent kinds of IBS, I'm not up with it but there's with diarrhea, with constipation, with both... so why not IBS without changes in form? (Lucky beggar! ;) )

Try and avoid the problem foods you've noticed, and maybe try Mintec or whatever else. I'm going to give it a go. And squatting for a bit can help relieve wind. I hope this helps

Thanks everyone, great info. I have been tested for Celiac's, always a neg.I do on the other hand have a sensitivity towards wheat / gluten and know pretty well which are my trigger foods, but I am also pregnant and sometimes my cravings get the better of me - knowing full well that I'll need to pay for it the following morning :}.
I feel better knowing there are others that have either experienced the same form of IBS that I have or in my case finding out that there are other forms of IBS that don't include constipation / diarrhea.
Happy Sunday!

I am not sure if this is IBS, but I have IBS supposedly and yes I will wake up with terrible cramping and then relief after I go to the bathroom. The anti-spasmodicas : Librax or Bentyl does give alittle relief.
