heyy! so does anyone have some advice on what to do with bloating?? sometimes my stomach is just its normal size and other times i seriously look pregnant... my stomach is just wayy bigger and not proportionate with the rest of my body at these times. it's embarassing and i don't want random people i don't know or people that i'm meeting think that i'm pregnant. i already take probiotics, fiber+calcium+vitamin d, and occasionally hyomax. thanks!

Fennel tea and peppermint oil caps work wonders for gas and bloating. You may want to check out this link to see if you are eating foods that will trigger your IBS. http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/cheatsheet.asp.

I hope this helps!

Yup, the bloating is almost every day for me so I am consistantly 9 mos along.  Its not fun, if you do that the Probiotics make sure you are not lactose intollerent because it makes it worse.  I found out the hard way, so I tried the Asidophillis Pearls and those are for those who cant have dairy, but have found them to be of no help either..  For 2 days now I have been at my witts end with all the swelling so I do feel for you.  They say pepperment helps but does not for me much....  This IBS stuff is no fun, good luck to you...Leslie nono

I've found that pumpkin seeds help a lot with bloat. They have natural antifungal chemicals. Like another poster said, yogurt is also very good as long as you can tolerate it.

Brunette,
Me too. There are times I look at least 5 months along. I wonder if I even have IBS. I mean my stomach will swell immediately after eating. It feels terrible. I recently saw my GI and he prescribed Amitiza. This drug is loved by some and hated by others. I am on my third day, so I cant tell you if it is helping, but I will let you all know.

Hello,I am taking amitiza 24 MCG and I'd rather deal with the side effects from the medication then the years of pain I suffered due to constipation, gas and bloating due to it. I also take Peppermint Capsules, have eliminated carbonated drinks and hope that helps you.I have dropped 10 pounds of bloating in, 5 days of being on amitiza and peppermint capsules. I also take Miralax with amitiza twice daily.

I would love to lose 10lbs. because my clothes just don't fit me like they use to.I'm hoping to see the gastro dr. next week. But you really haven't had any side effects from Amitiza? Can I ask how long have you been on it?or has it been only 5 days.

Thanks
Mary

The peppermint capsules help me very much though they may increase a little acid reflux. Bloating is caused by swallowing air, drinking carbonated beverages, acid reflux or slow moving digestive system which causes more. You should not use straws, chew gum or suck on hard candy.

Have you considered your symptoms could be the result of yeast/fungus overgrowth? (What does yeast do to bread??) Gas, bloating GERD, constipation, diarrhea, rashes, psorriasis, etc. can all be attributed to yeast overgrowth. Maybe an antifungal diet would help. www.knowthecause.com outlines a phase one diet (under the resources tab at the top of the page), as well as the part fungus plays in our health problems. This diet has helped me tremendously. I don't have to follow it so strictly now that my colon has healed, but I still find bread and other yeast products make my stomach balloon.

brunette,
it is call the "special carbohydrate diet" there is a book out by elaine gottschall "breaking the vicious cycle" and the web site is
there you will find a do's and don'ts list of food. alot of the people talk about this diet on
the UC or the chohn's disease forum. thats where i learned of it. i really bloat up when i eat
grains and flour's. i bought the book at a local book store. it had to be ordered cause they
didn't carry it on the shelf. hope this helps. i now make my own yogurt. it's a lot better then
the store bought....

Hi,

I when I have serious bloat I find that drinking 2-4 oz of Aloe Vera juice really helps. I also take Digestive Advantage Gas formula and drink a cup of Ginger Tea (use honey otherwise it takes nasty).
