There are a lot of sweat and oil glands in the skin in that area. Sometimes they can clog up and produce problems similar to what they do on your face. Because your face gets lots of fresh air and doesn't stay damp all the time, it's not so much a problem there; in the genital area they can become a problem at times.
It's also possible to get a chronic staph infection in the area, which can be a big problem.
I second the recommendation to have a doctor check it out. He can probably provide you with information or medication to help clear the problem up.
