Hi MaxieJ,

I'm new here & want to say hello. I'm hoping we both find the help we are needing. I have IBS-D & I can't even go to the grocery store w/o "going" at least once! I can't go anywhere w/o knowing where all the bathrooms are. Kinda like that "overactive bladder" commercial! I always pray "Lord, just let me get in there first!", & most times He does! blush

Just my 2 cents worth, but I've had fairly good results w/ the probiotic yogurts. I know some of the postings say it is basically worthless, but it works for me. It's no CURE, of course, but if I go twice a day instead of 20, I'll take it!

Citrucel has been the best thing for me.  I also have IBS-D and never thought that fiber would help me.  But it does.  For people with IBS-C, it works more as a laxative.  For people with IBS-D, it helps to form bulk in the intestines which reduces the "D."

I also take probiotics in "pill" form.  I've been afraid to try the yogurts since I'm sensitive to some dairy; but one of these days I may give the probiotic yogurts a try.

Hi everyone and thank you for the warm welcome. Life is so miserable right now. I have been takimg Amitiza for over 5 months and though omg a miracle cure. Well guess what I think it has stopped working. I get pain, gas and bloating after I eat now. This is a joke, I truly believe these doctors don't know a dam thing about this disease and they are treating us all like guinea pigs. Some doctors I think think this is in my head. IF I am having stress or anxiety that will make my problem worse. Well when are they going to finally help me when it turns in to cancer. I am so sick of living like this. Help me. PS Has anyone hear about Great Taste no Pain a program by Sherry Brescia ? Has anyone tried it. She sends me e-mails all the time but I have not yet tried it. I am just so sick of trying one thing after another and never finally eradicating this disease. The one thing I love to do (eat ) is a scary thing to do now. I hate this disease. Give me advice everyone, please

This disease makes me want to die sometimes, aside from the death of my father who died from two awful blood cancers suudenly at the age of 62.This is the second haunting thing in my life. I just want to feel normal again. Maybe all this IBS is really a precursor to something else. After all IBS is just the diagnosies they use after all others have been ruled out. In other words, it is a name made up by doctors that cant find anything wrong structurally so they take their best guess and came up wi.Irritable Bowel. Then they say our head controls are gut. a bunc h of crap. They say decrease your stress, take xanax, librax, valium, amitiza, zelnorm, anti depressants and a whole othere slew of drugs. I am so sick of these doctors. They think they are god, they dont help but are quick to bill my insurance company. IBS is not a particular food it is a combination of food, it is a defect in the intestinal tract that can not be seen. Its been 4 years since my colonoscopy and I am reconsidering having another. Maybe they missed something. But iti s good to know that I am not alone. What probiotics do you guys recommend? I am sick of all these drugs they feed me. All this and Im going to have problems with other things when I am older because of all these drugs. Although, one plus is the Xanax!!!!! lol got to laugh alittle about it right. Gonna increase 16mcg to32 for the Amitiza to see if this helps. I just knew it was gonna stop working.
