So I went and had a colonoscopy yesterday and an endoscopy. Everything came back normal and they said that I most likely have IBS.

I havent ate much food since Friday so its been almost a week.

Today I was feeling very hungry so I ate a lot of pizza, had some ice cream, and then some apples.

A bit after eating I developed a horribly sharp pain in my abdomen. It started at the top and is now spreading all over.
I keep taking pepto bismal and that helps a bit.

I was wondering if you think its from the food I ate or if I have a virus or something.

I am thinking its from the food, but I just want a second opinion.

Thanks in advance.

I would think it was the type of food you ate after your stomache was empty for so long. I can be wrong, but the sauce in the pizza and then the milk the ice cream might have been a little hard on your stomache. I know that after I had to go back into the hospital with some type of GI problem after I had my baby and got four units of blood, I had to take it slow with the foods (foods less saucy).

I'm just wondering also if the doctors might have done an ultrasound to look at your other organs in the abdomen and pelvic area?

I'll be praying for you that you feel better.

I usually wouldn't be writing this late. Next time I would probably be writing in the morning or afternoon.

God bless you.

I know dairy can be problematic (Cheese and Pizza) . Also, with IBS watch food combinations. You don't want to mix certain foods. You might have wanted to skip the icecream after the pizza. Because portion and how much of a certain food group makes all the diffeence. Another words ppick. Is it going to be cheese or icecream. Also, Ive noticed pizza can be problematic at times. Different pizzza parlors put different ingredients in their sauce. There is a pizza place near me and I can NEVER go in there. On several occassions, I ate that pizza and on every occassion about 15-20 minutes after, I am on the floor whereever I am usually in th grocery store which is right next to the pizza place, huddled over in pain in the aisle holding my stomach. It almost feels like some one is sticking a knife in me. O.K so I wait until FINALLY I Have to run to the bathroom and relief. So moral of the story, watch where you get fast food. IBS Sufferers have to pay extra attention to what they eat especially when they go out.

Thank you all! I woke up today feeling a lot better, and watched what I ate and have not had problems.

I guess having IBS is a lifestyle change that I am going to have to get used to.

Thanks again =)

after my colonoscopy it seemed like all food hurt my stomache and the pain was a bit different than my normal pain. but yeah, pizza and ice cream would kill me so i imagine it would be especially bad after a colonoscopy!

For the most part, I am o.k. with pizza. As MaxieJ mentioned, it could vary from place to place. But ice cream and apples are two foods that really cause me problems. I had trouble with apples even before I was diagnosed with IBS (too much roughage); but after being diagnosed, I had to totally give up ice cream. Nothing causes me more problems than ice cream, which sadly, is one of my favorite foods!
